Dr. Kieron Dunleavy: On the Front Lines of Lymphoma Treatment

The Chike Springer Foundation partners with the Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) to fight lymphoma by funding research and participating in committees that aim to elevate patient and caregiver voices within the lymphoma community. Our latest effort with the LRF is to develop a Veterans Initiative. Veterans have unique needs that are unmet, and resources for lymphoma care and support are not always widely known in the Veteran community. The Veterans Initiative will collaborate with multiple patient advocacy groups, Veteran affiliated organizations and government offices to develop a plan of action to provide more assistance to Veterans with lymphoma.
We are excited to announce that Kieron Dunleavy, MD, will represent the Lymphoma Research Foundation at our Fight Lymphoma Dinner Party. Dr. Dunleavy serves on the scientific advisory board for the Lymphoma Research Foundation. He also leads the Hematology section and Malignant Hematology disease group at the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Dunleavy is known internationally for his expertise as a medical oncologist and hematologist who specializes in lymphoma treatment.
Dr. Dunleavy specializes in treating patients with aggressive and indolent lymphomas, viral-associated lymphomas, lymphomas following transplantation, lymphomas in adolescent and young adult (AYA) populations, and chronic lymphocytic leukemia. His work with lymphoma patients gives him a unique understanding of the disease and what treatments work best for different types of patients. Additionally, Dr. Dunleavy has served as a principal investigator and co-investigator on several single and multicenter studies. His goal is to develop new treatments that improve outcomes for patients with lymphoma. In addition to his medical practice, he also sits on the editorial board of multiple journals and has been published over 100 times. Dr. Dunleavy frequently presents his research in the United States and internationally.
